Eugene heeded the call to serve the Lord while working with UTC Motors as an Auto-Technician.
He resigned and went into training with the Campus Crusade for Christ and the Ghana Evangelism Committee. He served with Challenge Enterprise of Ghana as a roving film evangelist. Traveling around some of the regions in Ghana showing gospel films and helping establish Churches where there were none.

In 1989 he attended Youth With A Mission Discipleship Training School and joined the group as a full time missionary. He later became the "Mission's Director" for the organization till he left in 1992.
In June 1992, he participated in the College of World Missions/GEMA training in Missions and Discipleship. He was also elected into the Executive Body of Ghana Evangelical Missions Association (GEMA) as 'Chairman of the Committee for Training', for a period of three years.
In 1993, the Ghana Baptist Convention appointed him as the first Association Evangelist, for the Tema-Volta Baptist Association where he served for two years and planted several churches in the Volta Region and part of the Eastern Region, among the unreached Dangme ethnic group. Eugene participated in translating the Jesus Film into the Dangme Language in 1994. This film is currently being used to reach out to the Dangme people.
